Sports Massage: a closer look

What is sports massage?

Sports massage is firm, targeted work on the muscles you use most in training, combined with stretching to restore range of movement. Ours blends deep tissue techniques with Thai assisted stretches. You do not need to be an athlete: it also suits anyone who is physically active, from weekend gardeners to people who lift at the gym.

Thai sports massage: what makes it different

Traditional Thai massage is built around assisted stretching, so it fits naturally with sports recovery. Your therapist can combine firm oil work on tight calves, hamstrings, glutes or shoulders with Thai-style stretches for the hips and back.

What to wear for a sports massage

For the oil-based parts of the treatment you undress to your comfort level and stay covered with towels. If you want mostly stretching with no oil, tell us and wear loose, comfortable clothes, or use the loose clothes we provide.

When to book

  • Before an event: two to four days before works best for most people. Avoid deep work the day before.
  • After an event: two to three days after, once the initial soreness has eased.

Do you treat injuries?

We help with muscle tightness and recovery. For an acute injury, see a GP or physiotherapist first.

What should I wear for a sports massage?

Is sports massage painful?

Yes. Foot pressure suits calves, hamstrings and thighs, but not injured areas.

Is this sports injury rehab?

No. We help with muscle tightness and recovery. For an injury, see a GP or physiotherapist first.
