Thai Deep Mix Massage at May Thai Therapy, Woolmer Green

What to expect

A full-body treatment that moves between Thai techniques and deep tissue oil massage.

  1. A short chat about where you hold tension, how firm you like the pressure and any injuries.
  2. Traditional Thai palm, thumb and pressure-point work along the body, with gentle assisted stretches.
  3. Firm oil-based deep tissue strokes on the back, shoulders, legs and any tight areas, using forearms, elbows and thumbs.
  4. Your therapist checks the pressure regularly and adjusts it to suit you.
  5. Some tenderness the next day is normal. Drink water and keep moving gently.

Add Ashiatsu: walking on the back (Ashiatsu) can be added to any massage on request, and it is very popular. Just ask when you book or arrive. What is Ashiatsu?

All treatments take place in a private room at our salon on London Road, Woolmer Green. We have our own car park behind the shop with room for 6 cars, plus free parking in the adjacent roads.

“I recently visited May Thai Therapy and had an amazing experience. I booked a Deep Tissue Massage and it was exactly what I needed to relieve my tension. The therapist did a fantastic job finding those tight spots and working them out thoroughly. Cindy was so nice and welcoming, making sure I was comfortable throughout the entire session. If you need this done I would start with them it was such a relaxing and effective treatment.I will definitely be going back to Cindy again, I have a little bit of pain this morning in a knot in my back she worked on but I feel 10 years younger. Thank you Cindy I hope to see you again soon.”

“I am a Driving Instructor, and I felt my back become more and more tense. It eventually pulled a muscle which was painful. I usually go to a chiropractor, but I wanted to try something different. I saw the May Thai Therapy shop near my house in Woolmer Green. It was so easy to book an appointment through their website. This was my second time after two weeks. I had Kornnie as my therapist and she was very friendly and professional. She was easy to talk to, asked me if I was okay regularly, as I was having the deep tissue sports massage. It can be a little bit uncomfortable, so Kornnie didn't want to be too hard. She has a great sense of humour, but for most of the time was quiet and focused on the massage. I only realised how tense certain muscles were until she massaged them. My session was for an hour and a half, and it went quicker than I thought! The experience seems to wake every muscle up, even every cell within them until there's a light tingling all over! I felt much looser and lighter, and very relaxed. Kornnie made sure I was well looked after, giving me a bottle of water to hydrate as I left. Thank you Kornnie! And thank you May Thai Therapy!”

Questions about Thai Deep Mix massage

What is the difference between Thai Deep Mix and deep tissue massage?

Deep tissue massage is a firm oil massage throughout. Thai Deep Mix combines that oil-based deep tissue work with traditional Thai pressure points and assisted stretches, head to toe. Both cost the same.

How is it different from a traditional Thai massage?

Traditional Thai massage is done fully clothed without oil, using pressure and stretches. Thai Deep Mix adds oil-based deep tissue strokes, so it feels firmer and more focused on tight muscles.

Is it painful?

It should feel firm and sometimes intense on tight spots, but never unbearable. Tell your therapist at any time and the pressure will be adjusted.

60 or 90 minutes?

60 minutes covers the whole body at a steady pace. 90 minutes allows more time for stretches and for extra work on problem areas such as the shoulders or lower back.

Can I add Ashiatsu (walking on the back)?

Yes. Ashiatsu, where the therapist uses their feet to massage your back, can be added to any massage on request and is very popular. Just ask when you book or when you arrive.
