Deep tissue massage uses slow, firm pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle. Its main benefits are easing stubborn knots, long-standing neck and shoulder tension, and back tightness from sitting, driving or training. At May Thai Therapy it costs £70 for 60 minutes.
Benefits
- Eases knots and tight shoulders.
- Helps lower back tightness from sitting or driving.
- Supports recovery for gym-goers and runners.
- Many people sleep better afterwards.
What to expect
- A short chat about where you hold tension and any injuries.
- Oil massage with firm forearm, elbow and thumb pressure.
- Regular pressure checks.
- Possible tenderness the next day. Drink water and keep moving gently.
“I am a Driving Instructor, and I felt my back become more and more tense. ... It was so easy to book an appointment”

Deep tissue or Thai Deep Mix?
Deep tissue focuses on firm oil massage. Thai Deep Mix blends it with Thai pressure points and stretches. Both cost the same. Ashiatsu (walking on the back) can be included in any massage on request, and it is one of our most popular requests.
Safety
Massage is not suitable for everyone. Tell your therapist about any injury, recent surgery, blood-clot history, heart condition, or skin condition before you start. If in doubt, check with your GP first. For an acute injury, see a GP or physiotherapist before booking.
